The Laughing Kookaburra is the world’s largest kingfisher and probably vies with the Emu for the title of the most popular Australian bird. 

In this watercolour painting I have tried to capture two typical postures of the species, one making its well known laughing call and the other just sitting looking, which Kookaburras spend a lot of time doing.
