This painting shows the southern end of Lighthouse Beach on the NSW coast. It is afternoon and the headland is throwing a shadow across the rocks and the sea below.

The sun is still touching the closer rocks from where a group of seagulls is rising. I wanted to paint the gulls in the shadow but have a few flying out into the afternoon sunlight. I think it worked well.
